Welcome to Sibet Partee's collegiate podcasting experiment! Come on, Bet! is the audio portfolio of all the podcasts Sibet makes an an undergrad. In her second year at the University of Virginia, she interviewed classmates and professors who spoke on their work, their lives, and wha makes them laugh. In her third year, Sibet produced a blind-folded blind dating show called Love Blinds with her co-host Lewis Campbell while abroad the the University of St Andrews. In her fourth year, Sibet started PodGodEss: Conversations with the Kickass Women of the Podcast World. But this is after all an experiment, so maybe one week you'll listen to a free-flowing interview--the next, a Bet-written radio drama--the next, a podcast where all the speakers are on top of a mountain--who knows! The possibilities are endless...

PoppA's Blitz
This past winter break, I visited my boyfriend and his family in an English village called Harpenden. There, I spoke with Harry Tolley, also known as Poppa, about his experience during the London Blitz and how he eventually found bliss with his wife, Pat.
Enjoy as Poppa, a man tall in stature who wears red jumpers and coke bottle glasses, regales you with tales of disaster and delight in World War II London.

Sibet met Theo Balcomb, the senior producer The Daily from the New York Times, at the Werk It festival in early October in the lobby of The Theatre at Ace Hotel! They had a splendid time chatting and sitting together during one of the Werk It panels, and now they are back for an episode of PodGodEss!
The first thing Sibet does in the morning when she grumbles out of bed is listen to The Daily, and she is beyond thrilled to talk to the woman that has so deeply affected Sibet’s life with her artful news storytelling. Sibet and Theo discuss how she makes The Daily daily, how the show evolved, what makes it accessible, why it’s needed, Times journalists, the future of the show, and the kids episode that came out yesterday!

I had the pleasure of working with Dawn this past August as she prepares to launch the podcast of her live storytelling event, Barbershop Stories. We talk about how she accidentally killed her friend’s hamster, her family, getting your hair cut while chatting away to an audience, teaching internationally with The Moth, how her hair defines her identity, and more!
