POdgodess

Sibet, a fourth year college student, is about to head to Werk It, WNYC’s all-women podcast festival in LA. Before she goes, she interviews her favorite women podcasters. These PodGodEsses talk about their careers, what it’s like to be women in audio, why they love it, and what Sibet can do to be a professional PodGodEss someday. Let’s Werk It!

PODGODESS FALL WRAP-UP

Missing PodGodEss over the holiday season? Check out this season's "Fall Wrap-Up" featuring Theo Balcomb, Annie-Rose Strasser, and Andrea Silenzi!

Listen with headphones to hear the full effect of this season's salute!

THeo Balcomb, Senior Producer of The Daily

Sibet met Theo Balcomb, the senior producer The Daily from the New York Times, at the Werk It festival in early October in the lobby of The Theatre at Ace Hotel! They had a splendid time chatting and sitting together during one of the Werk It panels, and now they are back for an episode of PodGodEss!

The first thing Sibet does in the morning when she grumbles out of bed is listen to The Daily, and she is beyond thrilled to talk to the woman that has so deeply affected Sibet’s life with her artful news storytelling. Sibet and Theo discuss how she makes The Daily daily, how the show evolved, what makes it accessible, why it’s needed, Times journalists, the future of the show, and the kids episode that came out yesterday!

Dawn Fraser, Creator of Barbershop stories

In the fourth episode of PodGodEss, we go to BRIC Studios in Brooklyn to chat with Dawn Fraser, creator of Barbershop Stories and international storytelling coach at The Moth! I had the pleasure of working with Dawn this past August as she prepares to launch the podcast of her live storytelling event, Barbershop Stories. We talk about how she accidentally killed her friend’s hamster, her family, getting your hair cut while chatting away to an audience, teaching internationally with The Moth, how her hair defines her identity, and more!

In this episode we talk to Annie Minoff, co-host of Undiscovered from the team at Science Friday! We talk about growing up in Alexandria, VA, the ethical treatment of robots, what it's like to tell a story that makes a difference to the community it's about, what it's like starting a podcast, and how we are always learning!
